Ross Brown: 'There can be no Plan B' - Key West Citizen Article by Ralph De Palma

The original music showcase at the Key West Theater Back Stage Listening Room was a great success, well attended and lots of excellent feedback. Thank you so much to all those who came out to the show and showed  so much love and support. Thank you to Randy Morrow, Jeff Dalton, and Chris Aschman for putting in the time and dedication to make it happen in the best way possible.

After the show, Ralph De Palma approached me and wanted to do an interview and talk about the show for an article in the Key West Citizen. Thank you Ralph for a favorable review of the show and story about my personal journey.

We got some video and a multi-track recording of the show. I hope to share some of that show on You Tube and social media in the near future.

I noticed that the link was not coming up well on my phone or my computer so here is a photo of that article:

Ross Brown Original Music Showcase: a chronological retrospective

I am super excited to announce that for the first time since I have been living in Key West, I will be performing a show of all original material. Throughout my time in Key West I have been performing non-stop. However, the music I have been performing, for the most part, has not been my own composition, but rather cover music to entertain the tourists. I sometimes feel I have lost touch with myself as an original music artist, and like my original music is not appropriate for the venues or audiences in Key West. It has been a struggle to make the time or find the energy in the little downtime between gigs to work on my original projects.

At the moment, we are blessed to have Chris Aschman visiting the Island in from Oakland, CA. Chris is an exceptional musician who plays trumpet and steel pan. Chris is a long-time collaborator who I have been working with for 20 years. There is no one who knows and understands my music better than Chris. Many of my compositions are instrumental and written to feature horns as the primary voice of the music, and feature the improvisation of the players. Many of my songs are virtually impossible to perform as a solo performer. Having Chris here in Key West enables me to perform these songs as they were intended.

For this show, I have dug deep into my archives to find my most significant works to date. Some of these songs have never been performed before in Key West or anywhere. The show will take you through my journey as an original music artist and explain a little about my inspiration and origins of music.

This is a show for fans and friends who would appreciate the opportunity to know more about me personally, my roots, and my body of work as an original writing and recording artist.

Summer Tour 2024

Summer Tour 2024 is underway. This year I am traveling with Collette Campbell. We are performing most gigs together this summer as the “CC&RB Duo”.  We have one band gig in NYC, and working on more dates as a band. We have already finished the first leg of our tour in Put-In-Bay, Ohio, where we played five gigs and hung out with all the wonderfully nice people there on the island. Now, we are preparing for the “Up-State-NY Leg” of the tour. In August, we are planning to take some time off to enjoy the Bethlehem Musikfest in my hometown, Bethlehem, PA. Then later in September we will be headed to Chincoteague, VA and other points south on our way back to Key West.
